SERVICE TERMS
Terms of service
Effective: 20 September 2026
About these terms
These terms govern access to the SanctionSearch website and application operated by Sanction Search. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms for yourself and, where applicable, the organisation you represent. Contact privacy@sanction-search.com with legal or privacy enquiries.
What the service does
SanctionSearch searches specified published sanctions lists, identifies potential name and identifier matches, and supports review and evidence records. Results are indicators for human review. They are not legal advice, a compliance decision, or a guarantee that a person or organisation is or is not subject to sanctions.
Coverage is limited to the sources identified in the application. Ownership and control, sectoral restrictions, geographic restrictions and lists outside that coverage require separate assessment.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate registration and billing information.
- Protect account credentials and promptly report suspected compromise.
- Use appropriate human judgement and independent checks before taking action.
- Ensure you have a lawful basis and appropriate notices for personal information you submit.
- Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, probe its security, evade limits, or use it unlawfully.
Organisation administrators control their users and permissions. You are responsible for actions taken through accounts assigned to your organisation.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service and source data available, but publisher outages, maintenance, security events and third-party failures can interrupt access or make coverage stale. We may change features, supported sources and reasonable usage limits. Material changes affecting an active paid service will be communicated where practicable.
Subscriptions and payment
Prices and included features are shown before purchase. Recurring subscriptions renew at the stated interval until cancelled. Taxes may be added where required. The payment provider handles payment-card information. Any trial, refund or cancellation right stated during checkout forms part of these terms.
Data and intellectual property
You retain rights in information you submit. You permit us to process it only as needed to provide, secure and support the service and as described in the privacy policy. Published sanctions data remains attributable to its official sources. The application, design and original service materials belong to Sanction Search or its licensors and may not be copied or resold except as the service expressly permits.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and cancel an available subscription through the provided account controls. We may restrict or suspend access to protect the service, address unlawful or abusive use, respond to non-payment, or comply with legal requirements. We will provide notice where reasonably possible.
Responsibility for loss
The service is provided with reasonable care but depends on external data and providers. To the extent permitted by law, Sanction Search is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by reliance on an unreviewed automated result, or loss caused by events outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. The effective date identifies the current version. Continued use after a notified material change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, stop using the service before the change takes effect.
